The Accessory of the Season: The Neck Scarf

The Accessory of the Season: The Neck Scarf

One of my favourite ways to dress up a simple look is by adding a scarf. And now that June is underway and summer is finally within reach, I thought I would share my favourite ways to style this accessory. The best part is that there are a number of different ways to style a scarf. Each style is very simple and is the perfect accessory to pull an entire look together.

This season, instantly update your daily uniform with an ultra-chic neck scarf. Worn twisted and tied as a neckerchief, folded as a choker or tied onto the handle of your favourite purse, this is the must-have accessory of the season. Check out how I style mine below...

Tie It On:

I tend to wear a lot of colour and to break up the colour scheme i'll tie a contrasting coloured scarf onto the handle of my purse. All you need to do is fold the two ends of a square scarf towards each other and then fold the scarf until you're left with a narrow rectangle. Then take the scarf and knot it once around the handle of your bag so that the ends hang cleanly in front of the purse.

Go Classic:

Currently, my favourite go-to look is pairing a neck scarf with an oversize white button-down, raw-hem jeans, and my jean jacket. I feel like the scarf makes the outfit look chic and effortless without trying too hard.

Make sure to use a smaller scarf, so you won’t have to wrap it around your neck more than once. All you need to do is pull the scarf around your neck so that the ends are pointing in the front, finally tie the ends in the front and voila! I prefer twisting the scarf to the side for more of a retro look, but you can also wear it in the middle- whatever you prefer!

As a Choker:

If you're not feeling the retro look, my third favourite way to wear neck scarf is as a choker. All you need to do is wrap the scarf from end to end around your neck. Start with one end on your neck, and wrap around it with the rest of the scarf. Finish it off by tucking the remaining end of the scarf under to secure. You can even layer delicate necklaces underneath for a more defined look.
